Uncle John’s Branding & Packaging Design

We repositioned a regional brand for growth.

Uncle John’s Branding & Packaging Design

For 50 years, Uncle John’s Pride sausage has been a popular Tampa-based premium brand in Florida and neighboring states. Made from real meat, spices and hickory smoke—no fillers added—Uncle John’s is smoked low & slow, just like the real “Uncle” John made it in the 1970s.

But the packaging and website also looked like they were from the 1970s. With plans to push outside its region, the UJ team recognized a need to appeal beyond its loyal customers while keeping them in the fold.

That’s why Uncle John’s came to us to help them tell a true—and refreshed—brand story to help grow it. Here’s what we did:

  • Rebuilt the brand by leveraging existing equity, including the brand story, legacy iconography, and key points of differentiation that make Uncle John’s stand out in the category
  • Redesigned the packaging to reflect the new brand identity
  • Created the first-ever Uncle John’s brand guidelines
  • Led a photo shoot at the Uncle John’s smokehouse and kitchen
This project was all meat, no fillers. And it looks great, too.
